Model Josie Maran is the first star eliminated
Things ain't rosie for Josie |
Tom and Drew welcomed us to the program and told us that Dolly Parton and Savion Glover were here to entertain us. Then they reviewed the previous night’s show. How else were they gonna pad the hour, I suppose.
The encore performance? Well, Sabrina and Mark, of course. And once again, it was sharp, quick and practically perfect. Wow. I still can’t believe that was on the first show. They have a lot to live up to… I’m not sure if they’ll be able to maintain that energy.
The first couples moving on in the competition? Sabrina and Mark. Jennie and Derek.
Dolly Parton sang “9 to 5” while some of the pros danced. Her singing’s fine but her hair is distracting. It’s just too big. Afterwards, Drew talked to some of the stars backstage. Yawn.
Then, the most annoying segment ever: when the audience gives their opinions. Seriously? Who cares!?!
Next two couples safe? Helio and Julianne. Albert and Anna. Wow, I’m actually surprised Albert was safe so soon. Mind you, I didn’t think he was going home last night or anything but he’s just not as well-known as some of the others. I guess his goofiness paid off.
Drew chatted with the safe couples. I fast-forwarded my PVR. Have I mentioned how much I luuuuuuuurve my PVR?
Tap dancer Savion Glover, well, danced. I had seen, and loved, the Glover-choreographed show "Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk" several years back, so I’ve always appreciated the form. Though I was fairly mesmerized by the first couple of minutes, it did go on a little long for me.
Dolly sang another song, though the second time didn’t include dancers. Um, forward.
Kenny Mayne returned with a new segment titled “The Origins of Dance with Kenny Mayne.” While I enjoyed last season’s Dance Center spoof, this one needs to go away and never come back.
Safe? Mel and Maksim. Cameron and Edyta. Phew.
In the last filler, I mean, segment, the judges discussed the difficulties of training for the competition. Haven’t they done this already? Like, to death?
Final couples safe? Jane and Tony, Wayne and Cheryl, Floyd and Karina and Marie and Jonathan. Which means Josie and Alec and Mark and Kym are in the bottom two. Hmmm, I didn’t think that Mark would be in the bottom two since he wasn’t the absolute worst but considering this is a popularity contest, I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised.
First couple eliminated: Josie and Alec. The obvious choice but if the show wants to keep Alec as one of the pros, they better not pair him up with another model ever again.
Next week, the couples are tackling either the mambo or the quickstep. Can’t wait.
