Desperate Housewives to end in 2011

Creator Marc Cherry signs new four-year deal; primetime drama to bow out after seven seasons

Four more years! Felicity Huffman on Desperate Housewives

Many consider seven to be a lucky number. Marc Cherry hopes it is for him too.

The Desperate Housewives creator just signed a four-year, eight-figure (that's tens of millions, people) deal with ABC that will ensure that life continues on Wisteria Lane through May 2011. ABC has already signed the key DH cast to deals through 2011.

At that point, the series will end, Cherry says.

"After seven seasons, it will be a good time to call it quits," Cherry told Variety magazine. "I don't want anyone else to run the show, and I don't want us to fade away."

Of course, if the show somehow stays popular, expect DH to continue past 2011.
